Bolles alumni medals at the Olympics for the seventh time

Ryan Murphy is no stranger to Olympic success, but the swimmer from Ponte Vedra does have a new piece of hardware to wear around his neck.

Ryan’s seventh medal of his swim career came Monday’s in the men’s 100-meter backstroke final.

The former Bolles School swimmer, had placed first in both the 100-meter and 200-meter at the U.S. Olympic Trials. During Monday’s race he touched the wall in second place at the turn, and had the lead before two other swimmers were able to pass him.

It also wasn’t the only big news for Ryan during the race. After winning the medal, Ryan’s wife surprised the swimmer with an update on their pregnancy.

Safe to say that yesterday was a good day!
