UPDATE, 6/29/2021, 10:00 P.M.: A student and flight instructor were the two onboard the plane.
Several students from a local flight school tell Action News Jax this was a student’s first flight. She was just 19-years-old.

Two people died Tuesday afternoon in a plane crash at Northeast Regional Airport in St. Augustine on U.S. 1, the Florida Highway Patrol has confirmed.
The National Transportation Safety Board said it will be sending an investigator to St. Augustine on Wednesday to investigate the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration released the following information about the crash:
“A single-engine Cessna 152 crashed at Northeast Florida Regional Airport in St. Augustine, Fla., around 2:30 p.m. local time today. Two people were aboard.
“The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will release the tail number of the aircraft after investigators verify it at the accident site. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate. The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and will provide additional updates.”
This is the third fatal aviation-related crash in Northeast Florida in the past two weeks.
On Friday, June 18, 18-year-old Alexis George, who had just earned a full ride to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and flight instructor, 66-year-old David Cuttino, died when a single engine Cessna 150 crashed into the St. Marys River on the Florida-Georgia border.
On Sunday, June 27, a man in his 60s took off in an ultralight aircraft from Craig Airport and the aircraft crashed on a golf course in the 1700 block of Monument Road. The man died in the crash.
