Jacksonville FL — Helping to cut down on response times and lower insurance rates.
On Tuesday, City of Jacksonville leaders celebrated the opening of a new fire station on the city’s Southside. Fire Station 63 is located on Gate Parkway and city leaders say it will serve 5,000 residents and 400 businesses in a fast-growing area of Jacksonville.
“This area was in dire need of a fire station to reduce response times and lower the insurance rates for residents and commercial businesses in this area”. Says JFRD Fire Chief Keith Powers.
We reported in September last year when officials held a groundbreaking ceremony for this new fire station. Before this new building, we’re told the station had a temporary mobile station and JFRD says call volumes in the area went up over 45% since the station went into service at the trailer two years ago.
