JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has reported one dead after being pinned underneath a lawnmower after it flipped into a pond on Greenland Chase Blvd.

The male victim in his 40s was working for landscaping company Martex Services riding a lawn mover around the edge of the pond. The victim then hit a spot of soft ground causing the mower to tip over into the water.

The victim was pinned by the mower in several feet of water unable to escape.

JFRD pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The owner of the property was home and was the first person to alert JSO.

No foul play is suspected as it was ruled a tragic accident.

JSO is asking anyone who lives in the area to provide video surveillance of the area and is encouraged to call 630-0500.

Martex Services is a Division of The Greenery, Inc. and has commercial landscape maintenance operations throughout the Jacksonville/Amelia Island area.

This is an ongoing investigation and will be updated when new details are available.
