Jacksonville, Fl — Cancer can affect children of all races and backgrounds and, in Jacksonville, over 100 children are diagnosed with cancer every year. While there are countless organizations that fund treatment and research, there are few that treat the whole family.
The Child Cancer Fund is a local nonprofit that partners with Nemours Children’s Health Jacksonville and Wolfson Children’s Hospital to provide emotional, practical, educational and financial support to the families of children fighting cancer. Every year, WOKV and Cox Media Group radio and TV stations in Jacksonville spotlight the families of pediatric cancer patients during Careathon.
Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry has proclaimed Friday, August 20 as Child Cancer Fund Careathon Day and encourages all citizens to raise awareness of childhood cancer and support efforts being made in our community to assist those fighting this unexpected battle.
