Duval County wraps up final day of early voting as election day approaches

Early voting ends in Duval County

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Sunday marked the last day of early voting in Duval County.

Action News Jax spoke with several voters and asked them how their voting process has been so far.

“It went pretty smoothly,” says Patrick Trencansky.

We went to the Pablo Creek Regional Library precinct where I saw numerous people taking advantage of early voting, including Trencansky.

“It’s just easier to come out on a weekend it gives you a better chance of not having to take off from work,” says Trencansky.

Trencansky adds it’s much easier to stand in shorter lines during early voting instead of the expected long lines on election day.

“I was hopeful that the lines wouldn’t be quite as long as they are on election day. It was nice to be here for only 15 minutes to 20 minutes and get in and get out,” says Trencansky.

Election integrity is a serious concern for many voters this election cycle, whether it be voter suppression or voter fraud.

A recent UNF poll found four out of ten Florida voters believe fraud changes the outcome of more than 10% of elections, but the reality couldn’t be further from the perception.

The state of Florida has also made numerous changes to election procedures and ballot design over the past two decades.

Many of those changes were sparked after the infamous recount of 2000 in palm beach county where Al is from.

“I don’t want to stand in those long lines. As a matter of fact, I just moved to the area. I use to live in palm beach county and living in palm beach county there were very long lines,” says Al.

The polls for election day open at 7 am and close at 7 pm.
